MCC Tests a New Method of Underground Pipe Repair

Brazil MCC | Mennonite Central Committe

The MCC, always alert to new technologies, invited Fernco do Brasil, the exclusive responsible for the PipePatch Non Destructive Repair System in Brazil, to introduce and demonstrate it at the Down Town Sabesp Yard.

The method has many advantages such as reducing excavations, faster than any other method, least interference on traffic, no interference with pedestrian circulation, and other inconveniences related to complex services such as underground pipe repair.

From the USA came the experts Ron and Jeff, with the Fernco do Brasil´s representative, Ferdinando Manzoli, to make the demonstration, in two steps:
first they did a simulation of a repair job on a set of clay pipes assembled on a bench, and after they did a real case repair, successfully, at Avenida Paulista, 2240, of a bell to pipe joint that was causing severe infiltration on buildings at that block.

Attending this demonstration many people were invited, such as professionals from the SAE Guarulhos, contractors and service companies, and dealers of equipment such as SANIT, Nunes Oliveira, Optech, Azores Engenharia, not to mention representatives of various maintenance people from other SABESP yards, both for water and sewage areas.
